The Gift of Markree Castle

Join us for our baby's zeroth birthday!
The book we are writing together will be born on April 1, 2016.

Oh sorry, no fun countdown timer. The book is available right now!

This is how a book is born.

I sat down with my 8-year old and read a bad kids’ book. “We can do better than this,” I said. We haven’t looked back since.

This is our 4th book together.

It’s a 3-day wedding in a castle. The nanny cancelled. “Our boys can handle themselves, right?”

It’s a tough decision: soccer penalty shootouts out on the grass or exploring the underbelly of a medieval castle for treasure? (HINT: if you’re a 9-year old boy, this is actually a difficult decision)

2 9-year-olds and 2 11-year olds have decisions to make. In fact, they have to make lots of them. Because their dad is getting married and the nanny flaked. Their futures, their fries, their adventures are up to them and only them.

But in The Gift of Markree Castle, others are now depending on their decisions. Will the boys choose with: (a) their brains, (b) their hearts or (c) their stomachs?

Fiction books don’t usually have bullet points. You just lucked out.

  • More references to fries and burgers than an In-N-Out burger drive through.

  • Soccer, yogurt and a castle. What else could a few boys dream of?

  • Useless phrases in Dutch and Mandarin you can use at school to impress your friends!

  • Written with the help of real 9- and 11-year olds.

  • Parenting techniques so vague that we can’t really call them techniques.

  • Learn what the 3 words are that young boys want to hear the most. (HINT: it isn’t, “Pass the fries.”)

  • Study guides included on Dutch and Mandarin. (OK, not really.)

  • Fun for the whole family! (Depending on your family, of course.)

  • Bonus: learn the names of Donald Duck’s nephews in Dutch and Mandarin!

  • So many more we are running out of colored bullets!

I swear I’ll read the first 2, just gimme #3

This isn’t just some kid’s book. This is a kid’s book written by kids and parents together.

The boys wanted to tell their own stories–and they did on a regular basis. I listened and wrote them down with their help … and some major editing.

Join the future gazoolions of readers!

I can’t wait! Let me buy now, please!

About the Author:

Bradley Charbonneau was sitting with his 8-year old reading a bad children's book when he said to his son, "We can do better than this ... and you're going to help me." Then they did it. He hasn't stopped since.
